What are the benefits of CBD?

CBD has a wide range of benefits; three of the most conclusive involve its impact on pain, insomnia and anxiety.

The World Health Organisation reported in 2017 that “there is preliminary evidence that CBD may be useful for a number of medical conditions”, which included Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, pain, anxiety, depression, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, nausea, cardiovascular diseases and diabetic complications.

As a known anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic agent, there has also been evidence that CBD can improve the symptoms of insomnia, IBS, skin complains, arthritis and migraines.

Scientists at King’s College in London are currently evaluating CBD’s potential to treat mental health problems including anxiety and depression in a clinical trials

CBD is anti-inflammatory and can inhibit lipid synthesis. This is why it is effective for fighting acne: it acts directly on the sebaceous glands and prevents the pores from becoming inflamed.

What is CBD compared to Hemp?

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a (non-psychoactive) cannabis compound with wellness benefits, extracted from hemp (Latin Cannabis Sativa)

Hemp is the only plant that can feed you house you, clothe you and HEAL you; anything wood, paper, plastic, cotton or oil can be replaced with hemp.

Hemp grows in 3-4 months, producing over 50,000 commercial products (anything wood, paper, plastic, cotton or oil can be replaced with hemp). Using a tenth of the water cotton does, one acre of hemp produces more oxygen than 25 acres of trees.

Hemp is renewable and doesn’t require genetic modification as is naturally resistant to pests and weeds

Full-sprectrum CBD, extracted from hemp, contains phytocannabinoids, terpenes, terpenoids and flavonoids, all with health and wellness benefits.

What are cannabinoids?

CBD is short for cannabidiol and is one of 113 phytocannabinoids in the cannabis plant. These chemical compounds can have various effects on the body. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid.

How does CBD (cannabidiol) work in our body?

CBD works by switching on a regulatory system in our bodies known as the Endocannabinoid System, or ECS. This system consists of naturally-produced cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors and regulates a number of physiological and cognitive processes. These include, but are not limited to: sleep, appetite, mood, pain sensation, and memory. CBD interacts directly and indirectly with various receptors to produce it’s therapeutic effects.

To better understand how CBD works, we must understand the body’s Endocannabinoid System and how this system operates.

What is the Endocannabinoid system?

The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex physiologic network within the human body. It is a sub-system within our central nervous, peripheral nervous, and immune systems that maintains homeostasis in the body, creating the ideal conditions for cells to perform optimally.

The human body is naturally primed for CBD because it contains cannabinoid receptors in the Endocannabinoid system. Our body manufacturers endocannabinoids in order to pass messages concerning functions such as inflammation, pain, memory, appetite and mood,

Because CBD is a phytocannabinoid derived from a plant, it can have the same impact on the body as endocannabinoids which are produced naturally.

The ECS uses endocannabinoid signals. These EC’s can regulate transmission in the central nervous system and brain, which influences and helps regulate:

Mood, Appetite, Digestion, Pain perception, Cognition, Memory, Energy balance and metabolism, Control gut permeability and Inflammation, Body Temperature, Fertility and Reproduction

Perhaps the most fascinating thing about the ECS is that its function can be controlled: the way we live affects its function. Cannabis is the most popular way to tap into this system. It works by introducing its own phytocannabinoids into our ECS, and can mimic the way our endocannabinoids operate, allowing us to “tune the function” of the complex system.

Studies show the ECS has a positive impact on physiology, cognition, and general wellness when it is properly functioning. The endocannabinoid system has a series of receptors that are designed to accept cannabinoids, including CBD.

Researchers have hypothesized that the ECS is dysfunctional in mood and related disorders. THC and CBD combine antidepressant, antipsychotic, anxiolytic, analgesic, and anticonvulsant actions, suggesting therapeutic potential in mood and related disorders.

What's the difference between Whole plant extract/full spectrum vs broad-spectrum and isolate?

Whole plant or full spectrum is the purest form of the plant, preserving the natural entourage effect of the whole plant.

Organic whole-plant extract, rich in terpenes, cannabiniods, vitamins, minerals, omega 3-6-9 fatty acids, chlorophylls and flavanoids, these work together and the “whole is greater than the sum of its parts”.

Broad spectrum CBD has been treated to remove THC.

Isolate has been treated to remove all cannabinoids, terpenes etc to leave 99.9% CBD.

Is there THC in Source CBD oil, will I get high?

No, because Source CBD is whole-plant extract, there is trace amounts of THC in your bottle. But at less than 0.2% THC, you will not feel the effects.

What is your extraction method?

High quality alcohol is used as a solvent to extract the nutrients and cannabinoids from the hemp.

Our Organic Hemp is extracted using ethanol -yielding nutrients, like the potent antioxidant Vitamin E, as well as the terpenes, CBN and other cannabinoids.

The extraction renders a full spectrum aspect and you get to enjoy the potency of all of these things combined.

How much CBD should I take?

As a food supplement, the World Health Organisation recommend a maximum adult daily dose of 200mg.

We would recommend starting by using a Source CBD product two to three times per day, taking around 5mg each time, 10mg/15mg per day to start, then adjust according to your needs.

The NCBI (The National Center for Biotechnology Information ) review paper advised that “high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans.”

“High doses” of 50 - 150mg per day or more, for chronic pain and cancer are well tolerated.

How and when should I take CBD?

Take drops under the tongue, sublingually, hold for 90 seconds and swallow.

People commonly describe feeling the benefits 20mins after this.

CBD will work any time of the day but studies show with/after food there is greatest bioavailability - basically allowing there to be more CBD in your system for a longer period of time after use.

We advise a three step process of hydration, mediation and CBD - by preparing this way you have the best possible experience and get maximum benefits.

What are the reported interactions of CBD with prescription medication?

Cannabidiol can inhibit the cytochrome P450 system’s ability to metabolize certain drugs, leading to an overall increase in processing times.

Interestingly, CBD oil is not alone in its effect on drug metabolism. Grapefruit, watercress, St. John’s Wort, and goldenseal all have a similar impact in terms of CYP450 inhibition.

If you are taking medication, speak to your doctor before taking Source CBD

Can I take Source CBD if I am undergoing chemotherapy?

Check with your doctors before taking CBD if you are currently on medication.

CBD been shown to help alleviate chemotherapy symptoms (specifically helping with nausea, Neuropathic pain, reducing inflammation, appetite control preventing weight loss, anxiety reducing / better sleep).

Nearly all US states who have cannabinoid laws have approved medical cannabis specifically for the treatment of cancer and therefore will permit it to be recommended for managing symptoms associated with chemotherapy.

We are behind in the U.K. but in Nov 2019 NHS approved Cannabis for children’s epilepsy and MS

Can my pet take source CBD?

Yes, absolutely, all animals have an Endocannabinoid system with CB1 and CB2 receptors, and respond to phytocannabinoids in a similar way.

Sublingually is the best application and if this method isn’t possible then add to their food.
